A comprehensive assessment is an evaluation tool or system that allows teacher to do a plan multiple strategies. In comprehensive assessment teacher take test, through result a teacher understand the students understanding level and are able to to identify their strengths and weaknesses.

Its purpose is to provide students with the concrete and specific information they need to be e able to evaluate and therefore improve their own learning.
Here are some formative options that teachers can use as part of comprehensive assessment:
    - intentional questioning strategies to find out what students no
    - oral exam, quizzes, assignments, simulation games.
For example: A teacher has just finished teaching a lesson on fractions. In order to see if students were able to follow the lesson, teacher ask some of them to come up to the board and demonstrate the meaning of of one-half, one third and one fourth on the board by shading parts of circle.

    Let's understand the summative assessment:
Summative assessment :- summative assessment aims to evaluate students learning and academic achievement at the end of a term, year, semester or its happen after a few lessons or at the end of unit.
Here are few ways of summative assessment -
    -End of term or midterm
-End of unit or chapter test, not during a lesson.
For example: teacher gives a paper for test at the end of unit on fractions. Or students might be given a worksheet on which they have to shade in correct portion of circle, maths numerical fraction, what problem using fraction, so the students can demonstrate on their own.

  6. Formative is the assessment which can takes place on a day-to-day basis in the classroom during teaching-learning process. It is not just one time, but can be done several times in the classroom. The main aim of formative assessment is monitoring the student’s learning and to provide ongoing meaningful feedback that can be used by the teachers to improve their teaching techniques and by students to improve their learning of knowledge / skill. It also helps teachers to figure out if a student’s doing well or needs any help for improvement. The formative assessment helps students to identify their strengths and weaknesses on the immediate basis and address problems areas immediately with the guidance of teachers. It is easier to plan the next steps with the help of formative assessment, as the learning is a continues process. It also helps suggest whether teaching plans need to be improved for better learning.
    For example,
o Teacher can ask students to draw a concept map at the end of the lesson to represent their understanding of a topic.
o Teacher can conduct a quiz on the main points of the topic to assess the understanding of the students.

  7. Summitive assessment is more of formal in nature. The main aim of Summitive assessment is to assess the student’s learning at the end of learning process and not during the process, but after that. The period of time may vary, depending on set goal by the teacher. There may be an assessment at the end of a lesson or at the end of a term or at the end of a year. The assessment takes place only after the course or unit’s completion. Teacher assigns grades and it is mostly compared against some pre-define standards or benchmark. The purpose is to evaluate student’s achievements of set learning goal. It’s harder for teacher to guide the student post Summitive assessment because the evaluation is already done. The summative assessment can be by different ways for example written test or an observation or a conversation or a task. Being formal in nature it always recorded through writing or through photographs or other visual media, or through an audio recording. These medium helps to show the results that are has been achieved. The results from Summitive assessments can be used formatively by the teachers to guide the students to undertake the activities in subsequent courses. The summative assessment results are presented as supporting data which will be useful for tracking progress and for informing stakeholders (e.g. parents, educational institutional management, etc.).

Examples of Summitive assessments are :
    o a midterm exam
o an end of year exam
    o a final project
    o a research paper
